Weld restarts

Hello guys need some help, so heard a thing you can do if you need to start and stop a weld , of "cutting in " with a grinder so that when you restart on a root weld then you still get the penetration, I was wondering how do I go about doing this?

Grind a ramp into the the end of your weld with a 3mm or 1mm disk on a grinder. The tip of the ramp will change colour to blue when your deep enough.

Do not use a 1mm disc for grinding, these are for cutting only, any sideways pressure will result in it breaking up, and it can hurt and injure;

Nothing wrong with using a 1mm disk for grinding in a Root situation as your using the front edge not the side edge in theory your only cutting with a slight left right movement and light pressure
