Weld on fuel hose tails?

I'm fabbing up a fuel tank and i want to weld on a hose tail (for 6mm ID hose) but can only find brass threaded ones...

Any suggestions for a stockist or a keyword to help my googling?!

Why not get hold of a mild steel 1/4" socket (presuming your tank is mild steel of course), weld that on, then screw the brass hose tail into it. Thats generally how it is done.
Sockets are available in mild steel and stainless. - Avoid the malleable iron sockets - they dont weld too good

As above weld on a threaded boss and screw the hosetail into it.

If you have any access to scrap cars, some have metal fuel lines which are perfect for using on home made tanks. Have used them myself with no real issues other than they are pretty easy to blow through so I slide a rod up the middle and go slowly.

I don't think they exist as components you can buy, places that make fuel tanks and the like bead or machine tube to make 'em. Some don't even bother! A few places sell beaded ally tube (usually as 'hose joiners'), doubt they're available that small but guarentee you'll pay dearly for the privilege.

If the tank is ally can use a brake pipe flarer to add the hose retention bead (may have to anneal the tube first depending on alloy).

Thank you guys, good advice as always.

I want to avoid the weld on boss/tail approach because i think it'll be too bulky (and unsightly) so i think i'll try to get some turned on a lathe out of thick walled tube.

Recess the boss flush into the tank and then use screw in tails, or if you really want to weld the tails directly in, buy some serrated male hose tails, which is the industry terminology, cut off the hose tail part and job done ! They are available in steel and alloy, the alloy ones you will need to go to a motorsport hose place for.

Thanks guys, especially nigel because that shop is about 15 miles from my parents house so popped in today on route from london and picked up these, once truncated should do the job nicely...
