Weld a chain

I am wondering if someone can tell me what is the best way to mig weld chain links together. I am using .35 steel with gas trying to weld 3/8 links together but i just end up with a big ball of weld that doesnt stick.. suggestions?

Frozen chain steering wheels used to be the '' in thing '' in certain circles ,,, [or almost circles depending on how good the welder was ,,, ].

I have a Lincoln pro 140, i have it on kinda a medium feed and ABCD for heat i have it on C...yes galvanized

Grind the galv off, 120 amps should do it.

I'd have no problems making a steering wheel, but tall handlebars...... no chance.

Or....

I'd be wanting more than 140a to get a decent weld on 3/8" links but I often weld on the hot side..! Definitely remove the galv, citric acid bath or grind away near the weld but that will be a right pain on chain links.

Actually very neatly welded , you have to look hard to see ,,,

another project to add to the list ... sorry
