Weird problem with my 130 sip migmate

Hi folks.
Ive looked around but dont seem to see this problem anywhere so here goes. When i press the trigger nothing happens except the relay clicking, this is the same on all power settings and regardless of the wire speed setting. But heres the weird thing if i rapid fire the trigger it will work in sporadic spurts and eventually work properly until i let go. Then have to rapid fire it to get it to work again. When it wont fire the torch is dead and when it does fire the torch is live so i think this rules out the wirefeed motor? Also i can hear the transformer kick in when it starts the wirefeed motor. The pinch roller is open as i havent put a wire reel in it yet.

In summary the relay works everytime which rules out bad torch connections? And all other functions only work when i rapid fire the trigger.

Whats goin on here? Got me baffled.

It might be relevant or not but its been stood a few years unused cos of a broken torch (that Weldequip has enabled me to fix thru one of his excellent kits).

Sounds like a dodgy Relay, possibly because it's been stood. You could try removing the plastic cover on the Relay & spraying a bit of contact clean

When I was a lad you could get a thing called a "Diacrom Spatula" which was a thin piece of plastic with very fine diamond glued to it. You used this to clean relay contacts &c.

Hmm, well women would call that a nail file lol (sorry), I remember those too years ago. A quick gentle scrub on the points with glass paper and this welder is working superb now. U were spot on weldequip the points were proper scarred from all that on and offing when the welding didnt quite go smoothly. Dunno why it didnt occur to me to start with, i was thinking the transformer might be shot.

Thanks once again, well chuffed now I can weld my van.
