I'd be checking the lock is securely fastened in the door, and the handle mech is working well enough to allow everything to be in the right position for the key to rotate fully to unlocked - the door mech (not the lock) may just need lubricating to allow it to move freely. I can't get the key out of mine if the handle isn't fully in locked or unlocked position for the door mech.
Removing the lock from the door and testing it on it's own should indicate if its the actual lock if that fails.

Everything moves and works smoothly.
I find it really strange that the key won't come out when the door is open though.

The cam has slipped on the cylinder, it can be repaired but best to replace for what they cost.

My last company we carried spare Euro locks, yale locks and chubb.
They failed enough times to make it worth it to carry stock.
We were only allowed to change the locks of the doors relating to our system. If we could open.
If not we had to call in the company locksmith.

I had this at one house, often caused by PersonA in the house locking the door and leaving the key in the lock, PersonB comes home (from pub??), puts the key in outside and turns it - the cam jumps 180*
Options. see you-tube then :
Use 2 keys, 1 inside. 1 outside, force them and try to jump the cam again so it goes back to correct orientation.
Fit a new lock (easy to remove, open the door, remove 1 pozi screw - slide lock out of the door. Measure the original lock, they come in different lengths).
As a temp fix you might be able to swap the bad lock from the front door with the good lock from your back door - not ideal but it gets around the problem.

Wasn't that the latest terror fad to hit the drama tabloids? We were all going to get robbed, especially after Youtube, Daily Wail, Express etc gave detailed lessons on how to do it....
