i seem to remember a few months back someone put up a link to a steel stockholders website that had prices ..
i done a search but cant find it now
could just do with a rough price of some 50x50 x4 box section and some 150 x10 flat
Hehe, not correcting Hitch, just adding info that might be useful to others .
I have found Parker's prices to be very similar to my usual stockholder's so I'ts ideal for me to check on there rather than ring up. A length of 60x60x6 angle is £24.25 from Parker and I just paid £24.85 so close enough for pricing up jobs. Shop4steel's price on the same angle is £26.25.
the scrap price has crept back the last few months or stayed the same, and so has the basic ore prices, I can only think the continuing price rise is direct on the energy cost, gas being the main one, I know the barrel price on oil hit another high this week......
I no longer price material into jobs, do a labour plus material price type quote, with a material price standing for a month only....Its frighting what it comes too now.
I paid a visit to Orem combined steel Mills, last month the second largest in North America, a fascinating tour.
