water pump on Vauxhall 1.3 combi van

Can I ask the Forum if anyone has experience of changing a waterpump on a 2005 1.3 combi van . This is the Fiat engine is it not ?

Anyone have any particular stand out problems, or tips ? Do you have to take off timing belt etc, like i have bewen told you do for the 1.6 vauxhall engine ?

1.3 cdti waterpump about 1 hr to do but how many miles? if about 60 70 k you need to do timing chain anyway coz they wear really badly and snap, wrecking the head etc. Its sump timing cover off etc, i did one few months ago at 65k owner wondered what the noise was it was the exhaust valves being shut by the pistons.

I have a 2005 1.3 cdti corsa and the 1.3 cdti is the vauxhall engine and the 1.7cdti is actually an isuzu engine so i was told by the corsa mechanic that does the work on mine.
As mentioned swap cam chain at same time as water pump you can get camkits for that engine on fleabay.

Mine has now done 122.000 miles and still running great.

The 1.3 is a Fiat engine, and the 1.7 is a Isuzu. which is a much better engine.

It is a 2005 1.3 CDTi which apprently means it is a Fiat engine.

Not sure if this is good or bad though. I am being told by people if I have to change the timing belt/chain, then not to bother unless i know what I am doing, as this could obviously knack the engine. Also that if it is over 65k mileage then it has to be done anyway ?

Normally If i was in doubt I'd either come in to this forum and ask, or just refer to the much maligned Haynes books. Which at the very least would have the specs a few pics and a 'how to' ranging from very accurate to back of a soggy fag packet, instructions. But it would usually have something.

If it were my van I'd just leap in, but as its not.....

This being a Van and with a non Vauxhall engine means there is no chance of Burt Haynes bringing out a book (or even a slim pamphlet)

Cant even find a detailed pic of the engine online either. Does any bod here know if changing the water pump should involve the timing chain/belt/pulleys etc, in any way shape or form ?

You should be able to change the water pump auto data gives .9hr, but the timing chain is a bit much for a diy mechanic ( it can be a bit much for some experienced ones!!!!).
As there are no key ways to align everything it is purely done on tightness of the crank and cam bolts.
Plus the sump has to come off to do the chain. But if you need to refer to a haynes then this is a big no no.
Is the engine rattling ? they just get very 'noisey' The one i did last had only done 65000 and the chain was virtually touching its self in the middle it was that worn I measured it and it was the equivalent of about two - three links longer.
