The main is nearly 100m higher than the house, so I dont think anything will syphon back to that! Thats probably also why the pressure is good!

I have used my wet & dry vacuum cleaner on blow rather than suck to dry out leaks twice now. Hot air from the motor's inefficiency and lots of high velocity air to get everywhere.

I used it between the bathroom floor joists and 'rescued' the plasterboard underneath the leak.
