Watch makers lathe

Hi chaps I have been lurking in the back round for some time now, ( pinching ideas and learning a lot ). I have been in engineering some 40 yrs, and due to illness have had to retire, but I still like to tinker. I have been given a taige or peatol lathe. all right all right don't laugh. I know its a toy but it was free, I need a belt for it but at £10 and £2 postage for a 3mmx2mmx240 think its too much have you lads any ideas? I would rather change the pulleys to a larger size on princible

Got a GOOD pic of the old belt? or its type of drive? ie is it V belt or timing type?

Oh and if you got it for nowt surely £12 spent on the belt is hardly going to hurt.

Giot an old scrap printer? the carriage belt maybe just the size?

will get a pic of belt tomorrow it is a v belt, £12 quid is not much, but I think they are taking the mick, for what it is.

Danielw looked at your link they only go to 120mm but will give them a ring it sure looks promising thanks a lot

Octo72ooo yea that's the beasty not bad bit of kit really lots of bits for it, you can see how thin the belt is

I wouldn't give them a ring if I was you...international calls are expensive,specially to hongy kongy.

I'd just pay out £12 and have done with it,you're not going to get a belt cheap to fit from new.

I have one of those lathes under by Myford bench. Lovely bit if kit. My advice is bit the bullet and buy the proper belt.

Enjoy the lathe, it turns out really nice stuff, just don't overload it.

thanks I intend to I have ordered a compound slide and a fixed steady will be here on Monday, already have a verticle slide so happy days, it just seemed a bit steep for such a small belt, oh well suppose they have to make their money some how, as all their other parts are so reasonable, and I aam a tight wad ha ha
