Waste Oil burning heater in garage.

Hi all,
Could do with some advice from those in the know.
Next door unit has bought an oil burning heater.
They need the flue installing, been drafted in the help. It has only been provided with single wall flue.
The roof has an insulated panel fitted couple of years ago. So I’ve said that needs a twin wall.
Any suggestions on best way to approach appreciated.

Needs to exit where the roof starts area as about 3m from outlet of heater

bung a self leveling plumb bob laser on the outlet , mark the roof and get a saw out , You will need a double insulated bit for through the roof ideally , and use a silicone gasket set ,,, or go out through the side wall and up from there ,,, again you will need a couple of bends ,,, dont forget the top hat for outside or your heater wont last a month ,,, easier to buy brackets than make them ,,, haave a word with the landlord before you start too of course . Or you could go through the block and fasten to the outside ,,, you would loose a fair bit of free heat that way , but the landlord may be happier or go through the side sheeting further up and keep the roof intact ,, lots of options

as above you would want a bit of twin wall and a flashing like this, they always end up leaking eventually as the water will probably puddle around it, go out the side with a couple of 45s if you can

The black ones are for cold pipes. You would want a red high temp one.

They all leak after a few years as they will melt/shrink back. Put a metal angled collar on the flue to stop water getting in.

My Deville flue stays below 100C , and passes through a sheet aluminium plate , sealed on the flue junction with Victor Reinz hybrid polyurethane/silicone sealant, and on the roof side with CT.1 sealant .
Been up for about four years, and hasn't leaked a single drop of water.
Usually, the water goes down the flue, avoids going into the heater body, and dribbles out slowly from the bottom of the floor-foot....
Absolute elegance, absolute class.....

single flue can be used before and after its just where the roof is where you need twin wall

you can use single though as long as you

a, have a gap
b, insulate it as well

but as i see it your going to have fun with the extension piece on top of the roof dont forget the minimum height past the the apex point

if you strap it internally and strap it externally from the apex point you should have a good enough point so the chimney stays solid

but if you need an extension on top you will need a frame so you can strap it too it so the wind dosnt sway it

We are getting a plan together
He is going to move the location so it’s closer to the apex to have less sauce with the height and supporting it.

my advice would be to source the stove where best with some movement

get as close to the apex as possible depends on size of flue needed but drill dead center of the low part then fit a the flue hole where it can be fastened down at apex point and on each side lipped over each high part gives a way better seal then seal it at apex point
then fill in below the flue and on each side of the risers

but it does mean you may have to move the stove left or right to centerise it

Where I have said to place it he’s downs want o live his tyre changing machines. It’s the optimal position. Where it’s going now the flue will need to be quite high and braced but he’s going with that. Will be tackling end of the week I reckon. I was only supposed to be diamond coring a hole for him and he changed 4 tyres. It has escalated
