Washing machine repairs

Just had to repair our washing machine again as it was showing a blocked pump. Think this is the 2nd or 3rd time I've had to do it. Metal fillings from my overalls have been attracted to the magnets in the pump and seized it solid! Told the wife to clean my overalls at the local launderette as I thought that was the problem. Well she has been but is still happening so must also be from my cloths as well. Amazing how it happens. Not sure if its a faulty seal around the pump. Its a fairly expensive washer and a decent make, a Bosch. Not really a problem though as its easy to repair and get to. Just wondering if anything major happened to the washer would I be able to buy another one and claim it as a business expense?

You should be able to buy one for the exclusive use of your business and either claim it as a depreciating capital asset or a one-time capital expenditure. Which you choose depends if you're making a taxable profit or not.

Wonder if you could put a cloth covered magnet in with the wash? If the machine has a stainless steel drum it shouldn't stick to that but I'm sure there's some other snag to this idea!!!
I know of someone who buys a cheap washing machine from a house clearance man and uses it exclusively for his overalls and cleaning rags.

Some "stainless steel" drums are magnetic.

What you need to do is put a magnet in the coin trap (if you have one) and as the water passes over it it attracts, or glue a neo magnet on the outside of the coin trap door, easy, same thing happened to our washing machine, so your not the only one
