Hi.
I am after a repair kit for my Clarke 190 mig welder, to include a steel liner, swan neck and shroud. Does anyone know of a good place to get these?
Hi Phil, easiest and probably cheapest way is to look up weldequip in the members list and send him a private message - he'll have them and they should come with a few spare tips and shrouds. Get the metal liner if you are using steel wire - works much better than the plastic ones.
Welcome to the forum. What are you welding with the 190 beast?
I was given the 190 by a friend, and to be honest I have struggled to get used to it. I have used stick welders quite a bit, which I prefer. But I find it hard to actually see the weld pool clearly with the mig. Probably just needs a bit more practice.
As for what I will use it for? repairing Land Rovers and making rocksliders, winch bumpers and such like.
Find it hard to see the weld pool on MIG, i think is a common thing. My old boss couldn't get used to mig, claims he couldn't see where he was going, on arc he was fine but mig was terrible. just takes a little getting used to, once you are used to it, its fine. you will find it much quicker than arc, no need to change rods or chip off the slag.
