I need to make four, or five threaded tubes to weld into a set of steel wheels to screw WW spinners onto, this is to replicate the MGA twincam look! originals were peg drive, I have a set of Triumph TR6 wheels that I will need to move the rims inwards on, too much outset, then I may ask my son to 3d print me some centre caps that I can paint tp be held on by the spinners...... pictures show twincam wheel and a TR6 wheel I tried on my car, soooo has anyone got any 3" or 72mm + pipe with a 2" or so bore? the tubes need to end up around 2" or 50mm long x 4 or 5...........

What you are looking for is quite specialised. I am not sure it is sold as 'pipe' or 'tube'. Perhaps 'hollow bar' is a better description.

It might be as economical to buy solid bar and trepan out the centre with a 50mm standard length Rotabroach.

I am not convinced of the S275 grading in the listing so you would need some assurance that what is being sold is weldable.

I could drill the middle out but was being lazy, and that may make my Colchester Student moan a bit, I will see what comes up here and then pop into my local "engineering" shed to see what he has laying around,

The engine on a magnetic drill is a lot smaller than that on a Student and it can punch a 50mm hole in steel without drama.

Give the lathe a serious talking to, show it Warco's website and explain it will be reincarnated as one of those if it does not pull its socks up.

Have you a fag packet drawing of the finished product? As the item is non-structural, is there an alternative to the thick wall material (like use two pieces of 1/4" wall, one inside the other with plug welds).

Student is running a single phase motor, Harrison is on 3 phase but for some reason I prefer to use the student................. I could go down to a smaller size tube, say 60mm 5mm wall, would need to measure again, then make / get plasma cut / weld a collar on one end to locate it into the wheel, basicallt I need to screw cut a thread on one end for the wheel spinners, 12tpi 2 x rh and 2 x lh and then weld the tube into the TR6 wheels but the hole in the wheel is around 72-73mm, I will measure it all again and make a plan B,
Or has anyone got a spare set of rusty / worn splines wire wheel adapters of MGB size
