Vrd why do most arc welders like this turned of ,also when turned of does it effect arc force and hot start ,IV just bought arc welder that has VRD . leave on or turn of,

It reduces voltage when it picks up on high resistance...safety feature to stop you getting a buzz. Could be handy for welding in the rain, personally just make sure your bare skin isn't touching the work while you are changing rods
