Volkzone offer

I see this on your forum but they are all old posts, is this offer still ongoing? if not is there any other good deals anyone knows of?
I see a lot of suppliers these days are doing this pay a deposit on the bottle and keep it for as long as you like scheme, but there doesn't seem to be many listed in your suppliers list?

I emailed a company called "Welding Gases" they have a cheap offer on a 9ltr Argon 5 mix at the moment, two days and no reply, I phoned yesterday and was told the woman who deals with the gas wasn't there and he would tell her to reply to my email, I have still heard nothing, it doesn't instill confidence in spending over £100 with them for gas and regulators.
Anyone recommend someone please? I am near Rugby but I guess that doesn't matter as most post them now
I don't do a great deal, I think 10 ltr of argon 5 mix would do me and I need a reg for the bottle with the adaptor for the small pipe on the Migmate Turbo 130 hobby welder

Volkzone offer from BOC is still current, and also includes pure argon too, Both in Y size bottles filled to 230bar.

Thanks Gordon, I just phoned our local BOC agent in Rugby and at the moment they know nothing about it, so I phoned BOC on Katies number and got a voicemail message from a man? he gave another number which I phoned, and they also confirmed the offer is still on but she couldn't tell me the exact details of the offer.

The offer as described on the forum isn't very clear, are we actually renting the bottle and paying a yearly rent? or is it a one off returnable payment?

Also I understand you also have to have an account with BOC to do it and I find on their form they are asking what your company is and what position you hold in the company, but I thought this was an offer for hobby welders?

I have also now had a phone call from the bOC agent in Rugby saying that they can't do it and I have to get BOC offers and promotions directly from a main BOC dealer?

You get it all setup by BOC over the phone and then just turn up at your designated distributor to pick up the bottle and sign a form to say you have picked up the bottle.

Well you say that, but I just phoned the BOC main dealer in Coventry and he said he was aware of the deal but I have to get an account first?

As far as I know all agents have to supply you. I get mine from a small independent stockists who is mainly a hire center.

What's with the attitude? It's not me who is making it more difficult than it needs to be, It's Boc and their agents who know nothing about their offers that are causing the problems. Not one phone call to them resulted in any useful information.
I filled in the email form on their website and explained the situation and now at last I have an email from jack Paris who has said he will set up my account, he also said I can collect from any local store, but I'm not certain that also means local agents, the agent in Rugby insists it has to be supplied from a proper BOC shop, but I have asked Jack, just waiting for the reply. Bummer if it has to be a proper BOC shop as it's a good 20 miles away, where the agent is a mile

There's no attitude, you can't interpret body language and tone via words alone !

Basically the dealer / agent doesn't need to know about any offers or anything, they just supply a cylinder and you sign the paperwork and boc do the rest.

There are pockets of staff at BOC HQ that don't always know about all the offers, Katie and Justin are the main two who do but they are not always there.

Just setup a new account with BOC via the main number, tell them that you want the volkszone offer, and to refer to Katie Anderson if they are not sure.

Then once you receive your account info in the post, go to Your local supplier/agent and get your bottle and sign the paperwork.

Once the confirmation comes in the post from BOC, check that the price is correct in relation to the volkszone offer and if not ring BOC customer services up and they will sort it.

There was a slight price increase last month for the whole business, so the new price is £25.60 for the gas ( "Y" size that's a 20 ltr bottle) and £37.40 rental per year. The environmental charge has come down to £1.31. The collection is still free of charge and they will need VAT adding on. So the total you will need to pay will be £77.17 Inc VAT.

Also for people on the volkzone deal they give discount on welding supplies of about 20%, regs etc. and do free next day delivery, prices are still high though, quoted me over £150 for a reg

Oh! and Jack said I had to "Pay" the Main Boc place, in my case him, for the gas and then I could collect it from any shop or agent.

Thanks for taking the time to post all that info. I must admit I have read about the Volkszone deal on here many times but until recently there was actually no thread that gave a clear and concise explanation of what it was and how to get it.

I felt like everyone knew about it but me. As you say, it doesn't help when BOC agents don't know what you are talking about either. I think for my situation, it is more gas than I will use in a year so I will probably go for the deposit option. Thanks again though, very helpful.

Hi Marlin, well that's exactly what I thought after reading all the threads and is why I posted it, you may be interested to know that Jack told me they are also starting to do a small portable bottle for about £35 all in, might be worth phoning him and asking for more details on that mate.

I've just switched to the volkszone offer and got a new boc Y argon bottle and its only showing 150 bar. I feel a little robbed if they are meant to be 230.
It had the plastic cap on when I got it.

Anybody else had this?

If possible try another reg just in case you have a faulty gauge, if its still showing under filled then take it back, BOC are pretty good about this kind of thing, its fairly rare but I have seen it happen before. take your reg with you when you go.

i once got a completely empy bottle.... they replaced it with a full one no problems atall

Tried it with an old murex reg and showing full.
Must be a duff one that came with the rtech tig set.

All ok then, I would replace that reg as well, at 230 bar service it is on its limit, I guess its quite old, new regulators are rated at 300 Bar..
