Just watching this on Quest, series 1, episode 1, converting a VW Kharman Ghia to electric drive. I’m not sure if it is a new thing?

Seems quite interesting, with none of the usual silliness, yet.

It's true that they omit the usual schoolboy humour and fake jeopardy deadlines seen in other "car" shows.
However, they tend to gloss-over the real technical details, such as motor adapter plates, shaft couplings, inverters, chargers, BMS - and the £20k cost!
They also insist on retaining the clutch and gearbox "for authenticity" .... nuts!

Oops, I searched ‘vintage‘ in a thread title and nothing popped up.

Some pretty rough finishing done on them, welding even I wouldn't have passed.

I've yet to try a adult electric trials bike but have always thought I'd miss the clutch.
They do kits that use a gearbox and clutch for them. Maybe il try and book a test ride next year and see.
