Finished the fitting of some roof trusses for a local hall today.
5 trusses in total, 2 standard queen post trusses, one truncated, a glazing frame and a verandah frame.
Steel eaves beams, purlings and ridge.
Job was a bit of a nightmare from the start. Complete lack of infomation on the drawings, even down to some critical dimensions missing.
Most of it i had to work out myself, as well design various connections
Due to the size, the front and second frame had to bolt together, but with no fixings sticking out. Front frame also had to be galvanised. Most of it is 150x 100 and 150 x 150 box.
I folded up channel spigots with tapped holes for the joints, that were covered by each member, and csk bolts holding it together.
Installed it wednesday, crane booked for 9am first lift.
11.30, we do the first lift...after eventually getting the crane out from a now very muddy cricket pitch!!!
Groundworks all to cock, one of the front pads was right, the other 3 got progressivly deeper. by about 2 inces each one
Second frame, pads were 300mm higher than they were supposed to be, so we had to cut and rewelded the baseplates.
Still finished now, and looks like i might even get a picture in the local paper
