Currently £100 at Aldi. I have an old Clarke at the moment, is this going to be substantially better?
Sell all your English Language books and buy a real bench drill...Something with Made In England on itCurrently £100 at Aldi. I have an old Clarke at the moment, is this going to be substantially better?
I would try and find a used pillar drill with a rise and fall adjuster. It makes setting the table so much easier. An old Clarke CPD59 series are robust and much better than the type you get from Wickes etc.
Have you tried Facebook Marketplace. Type in pillar drill and you may find a suitable used one that’s local. Sometimes you may have to look for a week or two but something usually comes up.Thanks for that. It does seem to be all fur coat and no knickers, but my Clarke is getting a bit rickety and it also seems to need a non standard chuck key that I can only get from a special order with MM.
You can get one chucks to fit. Usually an mt2 taper. Just put a Jacobs in its place. Thanks for that. It does seem to be all fur coat and no knickers, but my Clarke is getting a bit rickety and it also seems to need a non standard chuck key that I can only get from a special order with MM.
Swap the chuck? But I'm guessing that would cost more than that new key. Thanks for that. It does seem to be all fur coat and no knickers, but my Clarke is getting a bit rickety and it also seems to need a non standard chuck key that I can only get from a special order with MM.
All the cheap new drills are... Cheap. As others have suggested, I'd consider other options.Currently £100 at Aldi. I have an old Clarke at the moment, is this going to be substantially better?
