I still want to be a Youtube star, and learning lots along the way

I've found filming myself with a DSLR is a pain, my best lenses are noisy when focusing and I don't own one with a fold out screen so a bit of movement and I'm out of shot.

I haven't got Panasonic/Sony/Canon money, but I do have £100 (ish)

I've seen them as low as £15 but I'm sure that would be a waste of £15

They both use easy to obtain batteries so getting lots of spares will be easy

I don't need any extras but either an external mic or some money in the budget to get one would be good, so it must have a mic input. I have fast SD cards, tripods, lights etc etc

Have one, I use it with an old Russian 500mm manual lens on my CSC

Kayos, how have you got on with editing software? I got an Olfi for Christmas for filming our kayaking trips. I had a play with Openshot which I saw you mention in a previous thread but it’s really jerky. I’ve put my first snippet on YouTube without any editing - it’s very boring. Well impressed with the camera. Would appreciate recommendations for editing software

I like Lightworks, except the free version is limited to 720, however the tutorials are really easy to follow

I use a Panasonic HC-V 510 camera for all of my workshop video including "arc shots"
They are available on ebay for less than £100
I buy any that are at the right price
Currently I have 3 in constant use

I’m looking at doing review type videos but im struggling to film myself, I’ve done a few where you can just see my hands but I’m not a massive fan of them. I want a flip out screen so I can stay in shot while moving about a bit

Well the FS100 (or later FS200) have a flip screen you can turn around and see yourself..not HD but good enough for youtube I think. I've just sold a lovely little 4K panasonic HC870 to fund my new HCX1 'toy'

Having driven myself to insanity comparing specs I've had a rest and a think and decided what I'm buying

Still a Chinese clone but from Amazon so it can go back if it's rubbish. I returned a radio 27th of December and got the refund this morning (29th)
I've found one with batteries that can be charged in a charger and not in the camera, plus support for 128gb cards instead of just 32gb and it comes with a load of goodies

Also having spoken to management I have upped my budget a bit, still not enough for a Panasonic or a Sony but a bit of an improvement. I don't want second hand as I could do with a warranty
