Vevor 250 Mig - any good?

I have the option for one of these - what are the collective's thoughts?

I am a hobby welder and need to weld some large items as well as car panels. I do have a TiG and MiG but the Mig is not working at the moment, I also have a small gasless. I would look to keep the TiG, but use this as it is much more portable.

Vevor is a supplier of everything Chinese, tents, PCP compressors, ice cream makers and anything else you care to name. You'll probably find the same welder under another name if you look round.

As above. Like ‘ban good’, I only buy from this supplier, knowing full well that the item is likely below spec in one way or another - or even more than one way. I buy if I can fix it - or afford to throw it away. Otherwise, I look for better quality items (it may be that this item is the bottom of the bunch, from wherever you might source it!

‘Buy cheap, buy twice’ is something useful to remember. Doubtless there will be som along soon who will tell you they have never had any trouble with items bought from these types of sellers, but perhaps they don’t really look closely at the specifications and quality of the product.

I have two vevor badged chinese air heaters and neither one works to the claimed specification (first was missing an advertised part, has lousy temperature control and the fuel delivery is a joke. The second has a poorly machined part - a hole in the wrong position by a couple of mm, or so - and the fuel delivery range is far outside their claimed specification) but I can fix the problems if they really affect me.

I just have the perception that they sell off the dregs of production runs/failures that other buyers, who have at least some form of quality control, reject.

Thank you. Really appreciated. I think that tells me what I need to know. I have a TiG (which is little used due to my lack of learning/training), I got a small gasless as my MiG (Transmig 140) is a large beast (albeit broken at the moment!) good for car body work, but not something you tuck under your arm when the welding can't come to you. I'll probably spend my money on a smaller MiG (known make, I started off with a Clarke and had reasonable results - I do this for a hobby, not professionally - you'll be glad to know!!) and getting the Transmig fixed.

I am a hobby welder, took classes for a year in 1986-87 at a tech school. I own welders because I'm good at shopping. I bought a pawned HF 170 Amp MIG with cart, Lincoln autodark helmet, chipping hammer, and a spool of flux core installed for $94 out the door. I played with it and converted to CO2 gas with a cheap flow-meter (about $15). After several years of playing with it, I converted it back to FC and sold it for $200 and broke almost even on the VEVOR MIG250 delivered for $204 last week.

I put in the same generic .030" 5Kg spool of steel wire and connected the same CO2 tank and flowmeter on the same cart. The quality of this welder is so much better than the HF 170 Amp. It is not the same as many other versions of the MIG250 from VEVOR - so far no vids on YT match my new machine. Mine has one knob and displays the current and wire speed on separate displays. I don't see any programming instructions in the manual but I have noticed that depressing the knob does have a function to lock the current/wire speed... until it just changes by itself. I'll be playing around with it some more. It is also capable of stick SMAW and lift-arc TIG. I will try stick, but I have separate TIG machines and no desire to set this VEVOR up with Ar and no pedal on the TIG.

Note: I am running 245v 60Hz here in the desert.

My thoughts are it sucks they won't sell anything to the UK with a power lead on it(I really wanted one of their mag drills)they got in hot water with their welders when some wire was found soldered to the fuse, I think. See uk.gov vevor for images of the welder, I don't know if there's some blanket ban on all things electrical from them to the UK as a result. Or they just flat refuse to sell us anything electrical out of spite, haha, it's a shame.
