MoT has rushed up, & weather has gone to pot. My recent back injury & the need to get my folks roof refurbished puy the kibosh on the plan to be more prepared.
So, out in the rain this morning to start on my Camper. Bubbling under some stonechip on the n/s Sill, and a crunchy jack point had already told me some remedial work has to be done.
The recently bought Vevor air jack came in handy & saved lots of effort & faff to get the van raised somewhat - handy bit of kit, I like it!
Halfords 4-tonne axle stands & another folding axle stand under the front suspension arm.
Got the trim & inner wing plastic off- its amazing how much crud gets in behind! Nothing to scary revealed, though the panel/side of the jack box facing the f wheel, and opposite does have a bit of rust. Could be a lot worse.
Angry grinder & flap disc, plus some B&D Powerfile waving has got me this far. Outer sill a pit of pitting and one bit by the seam that's not ideal, but not too bad.
Inner sill close to the wheelarch I developed a small hole, while the foot of the jacking point & its internal structure looks a bit sad.
I'm not expecting to do an A1 job, cos I'm simply not good enough or practiced enough - but I'm hoping to make a solid repair.
I've bought a gallon of white Jotamastic 90 to coat everything with after my trademark iffy metal bashing & glueing. Never used the stuff before, but mix small quantities up & brush on is the plan, & fingers crossed!
