Yea 6013 lincoln cheep as !! £20 for 5kg this welder doesn't have any settings on it i crank it up till i can strike an arc and away i goWhat rods ? 6013 ?
running uphill vert isnt handy , have you got your flat welding off pat to start with ?

even if you grind a line up the pate to weld up it will help you a bit ,, tight arc , decent push , and dont be afraid of a bit of power will get you started.It's certainly looks a lot better than the vertical cheers
You been looking at my vertical up?Let’s give Harry a break. We are all rubbish when starting out in welding. Some of us I suspect are still rubbish after loads of practice.![]()

Way too early to be looking for a considered “assessment” (it is dreadful).
Difficult to say where you are going wrong (everywhere!) but on a positive note, you do have considerable room for improvement.
Don't realy know its 6013 on acare you using rods intended for ac ?
