Velocette Venom seat fixings?

Anybody got a 1960 Velocette Venom clubman (small tank) with the "normal" seat (not Thruxton)?

My dad is renovating one and needs some picture of what the seat bolts to, you don't see many pictures underneath the seat.!

He thinks he knows how it fixes at the front, its mainly the round tubing above the shockers however pictures of it all would make an 81 year old brit bike nut very happy!

the bike forum's are my next call, I've already looked through/searched loads of threads on them without success however I'm already a member here and know many people of old bikes on the forum so I'm trying here first before joining more forums and posting questions. I'll give it a couple of days before going that route. My dad is definitely pre-internet so not on any forum already.

EDIT - didnt realise The velocette was a yahoo group - just joiined it but will take a day or so for the moderator to approve my membership in the mean time the question still stands. I'm guessing most Velocettes of a similar age/model/seat will be similar around the seat area so similar model will do.

Request for some photos has been on the Velocette technical forum for a couple of days with no response, I'll give it a bump however I'm sure there are some members on this forum with Velocettes, if you could take a couple of picture underneath your rear end that would be appreciated!

I guess Youv looked on google image? You might be lucky and click on a picture to someone that not only has the exact bike but you may be able to contact them through the forum they posted the pics on

Yes - done that, looked at lots of pictures and links to peoples renovations but never quite the shot needed. One of the guys on the Velocette forum has now come back and will send some pictures of a similar but not the same bike so looking better

The other thing to try (call them first to make sure they have one) is every museum and large collector and go and see them if you can, would make a nice day out

Is there a local-ish Velo club meet? I used to go to one donkeys back when I had a MAC in bits, friendly lot. And he'd prob make some handy contacts for parts and whatnot.

Looks like we may have it, Adrian from the Velocette technical forum has kindly sent 5 pictures of similar machines in their under seat nether regions

Just printing them off and sending them to my pa by snail mail so will find out if it hits the spot in a couple of days.
