Variable Power supply

Would this power supply be suitable as a power source for Zinc plating?

From what I have read the voltage isn't important but the current is and this covers 0-15a (although it doesnt say in what steps).

Hello Dave,

the specifications give a single voltage but the controls are for voltage adjust and current limit. On the face of it yes it will I would guess.

On unregulated systems voltage and current are linked (ohms law) with the resistance of the circuit being the third component. I assume that the electrolyte and the components being plated are virtually zero resistance. You can add resistance by using small lamps (bulbs) in series with your plating bath to control the current, cheap and effective if a little coarse.

I'm always leery of solid state gear for tasks like that, (same as with the so-called smart chargers which proliferate nowadays), and judging from the size, and also the price, that is no transformer based jobbie. A proper bench top power supply would serve you better, IMHO.
