Van Insurance

Anyone on here have any recommendations for reasonable quotes for non commercial van insurance?

I've previously been through Adrian Flux with Highway at around £800 per year. This year the best quote they could give me was £1600+. That's with no change in my circumstances and an extra year NCB.

I've contacted Swinton and the best they could return is £1900+. I'm waiting to hear back from commercial vehicles direct.

When I spoke to Adrian Flux they said that industry wide no one is insuring vans on non-commercial policies anymore. We're left in the position where we may have to sell the van due to ridiculous premiums...

try simply business

youare going to pay more on commercial ins... thats why they are doing it

28, 9 points (spent but still declarable), 9yrs ncb got mine through Swinton this year, £360.
Previously with YES.

Not sure what you've been told, but mine isnt down as a business, but still as commercial though, S,D,P &C

many insurers have been that way for years, no van (except some car derivitives) on domestic policy.

No, not young or inexperienced. I have no points or claims, but I only have 2 years NCB I can use on this as my bigger 8yrs NCB is attached to a different policy.

I think you might agree that a £1600+ premium on a 06 Renault Master valued at £4000 is pretty mental

Adrian Flux said that no insurance companies are insuring vans on domestic policies any more and that commercial is the only option. I said thanks, but no thanks to their policy and that I would shop around for a better deal.

I do not need commercial cover as this is strictly for personal, social, domestic, etc. I'll try Direct Line. Any other recommendations?

Try Insurance Choice, www.insurancechoice.co.uk, they are a specialist broker. Also ask them what is pushing up the price.

Also try a comparison site, Go Compare springs to mind.

Hah Hah Ha. Direct line was worth a call for their comical quote of £2500+

Tried insurance Choice, but apparently they can't give me a quote over the 'web so will phone me in the next 48hrs.

Give them a bell tomorrow, they are a bit like AF but cheaper IMHO.

you could put two windows behind the cab and a row of 3 extra seats and list it as a combi van multi purpose all insurance has gone up approx 40% to50 % this year year due to all the arranged crash' and personal accident claims and thus the average persons gets the "how much"

well the post office had LDV pilots like that the windows and seats in
reno traffic does a 6 seater combi thats factory a lot of companys should class it as a MPV you might need a letter from a garage to cover seat belt mountings and seats lots of people convert vans to campers you can insure it as a van for 3 monthe till you convert it law now stands mut have a bed 6ft or more long at least one window behind cab cooker sink all must be fixed to class it as a camper

In the end it turns out my address is the cause of the issue. Quoted at a different address and had a £700 fully comp price. We have a few options now. Selling the van is a serious consideration!

the mention on postcode liverpool and teeside doubles the price wheels and bricks are hard to insure and keep
