van bumper

Hi Chaps
i need to smarten up the front bumper of my van(smiley transit),its looking a bit grotty and seems to have had some paint or whatever on there before looks black in some parts with bits of grey in other areas.
I've managed to clean it up the best i can with white spirit and then soapy water and just want to give it a quick rattlecan spray(matt black),do i need to use a plastic primer 1st or can i get away with it cleaned up as it is.
Again i dont want a showroom look but i dont need it peeling off in a few weeks time

you can get direct to plastic rattle cans , if i was doing it id mist a coat of transparant plastic primer on first to help it stick

WOW really,i've never heard of that before,will give it a bash,but knowing my luck lately i'll end up setting it alight Hows it done btw?
Think i'll go with some sort of plastic primer 1st then some black just to be safe.

I'll second, the snooper! I have a Mk5 smiley. Works wonderfully - looks like new. Hot air gun or, if careful, a blow lamp...

Hover the flame / heat over the plastic (use masking methods if concerned). It will darken and return the plastic to its original shine.
