Utility Trailer Plan

Hello,

I am going to build a new utility trailer does anyone have a plan for one?
Also I have a Sureweld Monomig 180, (180 Amp) should this be 'man' enough for the job. I think the chassis will be 50x50x3mm box section.

The sort of thing that you could carry rubbish to the tip in or camping gear etc, like a small box trailer.

If you can find one anywhere get an old Towsure catalogue. I have one from the 80s and it has detailed drawings and measurements of their trailers, almost as good as blueprints.

I don't have any plans but I would say look through ebay and this forum at trailers other folks have made/adapted, to get some ideas for your own trailer

OK thanks. Surely you can just throw a few measurements together? Didn't Indespension do a "make it yourself" brochure years ago? Get your wheels, axle and hitch mech then design around them is quite easy.

I could get you some dimensions if you want.

It might me easier to buy an old 2nd hand trailer and repair to your standards. Cut out anything that isn't 100% - you might as well resize/reshape when you're putting in new metal And it saves buying new (expensive) running gear

I have just stripped an old trailer so I use the hubs, hitch, electrics etc on a new "bare bones" trailer chassis.
Result is a "new" trailer 50% cheaper than buying a new trailer...
And all done within regs as the new chassis comes with a legit type approval chassis plate
