Using SS wire on mild steel.

I almost finished a welding project the other day only that the mild steel wire run out just before the end, sods law, I didn't have a replacement reel, I had a stainless steel roll though so fitted that instead.

Have you guys done that before? How bad/weaker is that section of weld going to be now?
Thankfully it's not a project that's going to be under any pressure/strength tests so I think it will be OK for me.

Note to self, must buy a few more mild steel wire rolls.

Never something iv tried, always keep a good stock of 6013 electrodes er70s2 tig rods and recently mild steel mig wire

I've used ss wire on mild at work loads of times, too lazy to change the welder over, never had a problem. But I suppose it depends largely on the application and stresses it will be under.

Thanks, that's good to know. I would certainly not want to risk it if the finished piece had to deal with a fair amount of stress either.
