Hi guys...although I did a bit of spraying many years ago I am an amateur.
I'm needing to paint some of the Beatles 'figures' I'm making with my CNC. They are 2mm mild steel.
Although this was new, it did get a bit of surface rust on it as I kept it outside for a week...silly me!! I've taken this off with a cup brush on my angle grinder.
Although now very smooth, you can still see little brown bits 'in' the surface of the steel.
I have no room to use a proper spray set up, I can only use the 500ml rattle cans, and the figures are meant to be kept indoors, do I need to use a primer coat first...and if so what type (rattle can again) ??
While I'm asking questions....is it feasable to make a little 'fold up' spray booth with an extractor fan so I can paint these figures in my workshop without dying of fumes and covering evrything in matt black paint?
By the way, I did get some local quotes for powder coating but they were way too high to be cost effective.
Thanks Gerry
