Backpurge is that MIG or TIG?

It's lovely on stainless too.
I really should invest in a cylinder for myself. I use it at work a lot and it's certainly a better mix than argon alone.

I was thinking GMAW. I've never used hydrogen before but Id like to try it. Bet that's a dear cylinder.

I've welded 1.0mm ali with chill blocks no problem (TIG) but I can see the advantages of using heliium mix. My boss welded a lot of 0.5mm with pure argon, I'm sure helium would have made it a fair bit easier though. Do people mix using two flow meters or buy a proper mixing setup? @backpurge

When I looked BOC were mental money for a cylinder of 99.7, not sure if that's pure enough to weld with.
Adams gas worked out cheaper as you'd only be using a percentage of helium compared to the Argon.

Brad 99.7 is no good for welding ally, would probably get away with mixing it with argon and around 2%CO2 and using it for MAG welding stainless but that's starting to complicate things, you'd be better off just buying cylinders of pre mix if the job stands it

You tend to find all the Ar/He and Ar/H2 mixes are around the same price, as you will be aware it's all about how much you are gonna use
