using flux cored wire on a gas mig welder?

i have a clarke pro 90 welder that uses gas, but instead of using gas can i use flux cored wire?

unless of course its windy, like i was trying to weld something to a trailer at the front of the workshop. Wasnt a problem just welded between the gusts of wind lol.

Just a thought weldequip (theres me hijacking someone elses thread) my portamig would be capable of running gasless wire? The wire feed unit has has a dinse plug on the back for + supply, supplied by a dinse plug with connecting cable from the back of the machine, the machine has the earth on the front. If i was to connect the front earth to the wire feed and the dinse connector at the back of the machine as an earth i have safely reversed polarity? and hence can run gasless? or am i not making sense?

Not with you Darren. The Dinse socket on the back of the wire feed unit is simply to connect, via inter-connecting cable, to the main power source.

i think he means knock up a couple of leads and plug the front in the back and the back to the earth clamp

I can see what Darren means, with a seperate power source type welder if you swap the leads in the + & - sockets over on the power source you change the polarity of the setup.
