using cooker hood

been given a cooker hood with extractor.
would it work as extractor fan if mounted above bench?
try to do most of welding on drive under the canopy but end up doing smaller stuff on bench in shop.

For DIY level welding and soldering it would help, but not eliminate.
No much use for grinding dust though!

Had thought about using one too.

Can't see why it wouldn't work to be honest, they drag the water vapor and steam from cooking out.
