From the left
Advance Knob: is gas pre flow, set to about 0.5 and leave it there

Clean width: looks like Electrode pos and neg bias for AC aluminium welding

Welding Current: this ones obviously amps adjustment

Downslope: the length of time taken for the arc to fade out after you trigger off, for filling the weld crater

Postgas: how long the gas continues after you trigger off, to protect the weld and the hot tungsten.

Remote / Local switch: is the one marked with an arrow in a box, local setting is torch switch, remote setting is pedal, looks like on for pedal, off for torch.

When using the pedal set the amps to the maximum you are likely to need for the job, and the pedal will operate between the minimum amps that the machine will run at, and whatever you set the max at.

That's absolutely brilliant! Advance air supple, Clean Woth, Welding current, Down slope time, Prolong angry adjustment..... Did I read them right?

I think advance air supple is pre-flow in seconds - controls the gas before the arc starts. About 0.5 should be fine.

Down slope time is the time it takes to ramp down current when you lift off the trigger. Start in the middle.

Angry adjustment is probably post flow of gas. About 5 seconds should do you. More for really thick stuff - it protects the tungsten as it cools.

I see an AC switch so clean woth most likely controls how much of the ac is torch negative and how much is torch positive. Torch negative puts more heat into the weld, and torch positive cleans aluminium but melts the tungsten. No idea which way they'll go - read the manual for that

The foot pedal will generally give 0 amps when not pressed down at all and whatever is set on the welding current knob when fully pressed down. It might act as a trigger too.

thanks guys that was fast. the one problem is the foot pedal i can seem to get it to work right it will work when pedal is full down but when i let of even a little bit the arc stops what am i doing wrong

And start saving for a better one, a mate of mine, decided against my better judgement and bought the same unit. It now sits in the corner of the shed, and has done so 4 months after he bought it, refusing to work.

I'm not usually a ROC box knocker ( I have owned similar) but those are the biggest pile of $@&## going, I know of 3 people to talk to that have suffered the same fate

Sounds like the foot pedal or machine is broken. Inside the foot pedal I would imagine there's a microswitch to switch the current on and a variable resistor to control the current. Could be worth pulling the pedal apart to see whether there's a mechanical problem with triggering the microswitch. Also check continuity of the wires to the connection on the machine and if you see something odd don't rule out fundamental design flaws.

If it turns out to be an electrical problem then you'd want to be testing any warranty or looking at boat related applications.

It sounds like you've got the foot pedal only operating as a switch rather than a rheostat.
Check operation with the remote switch in both positions and also check the connections at the bottom, in between the gas and torch, the remote will be the one with the arrow in the box and the p and q on there sides will be a switch. By the remote it looks like you have two connections, one that's connected and one that's hanging loose. Try swapping them over, then try with the remote switch in both positions.

...just to add, in general with the remote switch set to "off" the pedal will operate as a switch(working at whatever amp setting on the main dial), with it "on" it should give you variable amps.

(Don't pull the foot pedal to pieces just yet! )

took the pedal apart found that the rear of the pedals bracket for the switch had fallen of inside,didnt get a chance to test it yet but it is bound to have helped

Do you have a switched torch as well? It looks like the torch switch is plugged in next to the gas connector, try disconnecting that as well.

I've got the same machine, had it for about 4 years and it works OK for me on both AC and DC settings. The foot pedal seems unable to give the full power expected but I've never really looked in to this as I've also got a Miller to fall back on.

Hi guys, any help would be appreciated. I own one of these wse200s. I am currently building a kit car, and when I go to weld on the car and connect the earth it is allowing the gas to flow without me pushing the trigger on the torch. This also happens if I touch it to anything that's earthed in my garage ie sockets, switches, screws on the welder. However if I use the welder on my workbench it works fine. There is no electrics connected in the car as yet, and no battery is connected. Thanks in advance.
