Uses for old cordless drills

I have a couple of old cordless drills, dead batteries, that I'm not going to bother spending out on new batteries or rebuilding the packs.
I've been keeping them forever as they are bound to come in handy, but for what?
What could I make out of an old drill?

solder a couple of leads on them and clip on to a 12 volt rechargeable burglar alarm battery

Many things TBH .
Electric bikes for example.
Some sort of powerfeed for something .
Plasma /oxyfuel/ welding tractor .
Rotary welding table .
Tapping attachment .
And I believe a lot of other things .
You just need a suitable power source .

the problem with drills is there gearing and power vs amps

you could build many things and make them as a power unit however you would need the power supply to make them constant

hence the reason for power vs amps without the amps that drill becomes nothing but a throwa away unit

grinder have more uses as they gear down enough to be used elsewhere

If any of them are 12v I did what @brightspark said and put a long two core cable on an old bosch. adding croc clips makes it an ideal drill to carry in the car which just happens to have a large 12v battery (and a means of keeping it charged)

I just removed the batteries from a dead pack and put the wires into that so I can still use the drill on batteries if I ever feel liking buying new packs

Seen most of those.
That last one was very inventive but ultimately disappointing.

As should become obvious rather quickly if you watch any of those videos, you might think they'll come in handy but the Heath Robinson setups you'll end up with will be hopeless. I have quite a collection of dead battery drills since I have an affliction which prevents me from throwing anything away.

So to answer your question; I scatter them around the workshop and use them as a reminder that I really ought to start throwing things away.

That's probably the best/most honest answer here.
I've had them both waiting to come in handy for maybe 8 years .... probably best off at the recycling centre, but .....

If they are all the same voltage, you can gut the batteries and graft a Neutrik Powercon or similar into the battery shell. Buy a high power 12v supply and they become plug and play - like a quick connect on an airline. Just like people have a grinder with a flap wheel, one with a grinding disk, one with a wire brush and one with a slitting disk, you just change drills rather than dechucking.

one other good thing about it you can buy other types of batterys and use them to power it instead
