Use of compressed air tool fittings in inert gas lines

I just had to bodge a set up to weld a stainless exhaust. I only had fluxcore with me and no gas.
So I got a disposable bottle and some stainless wire.
I did not want cut and shut the gas line on my MIG, so I stuck on air tool coupling,which worked for the job.
I am now thinking of leaving it on.
So my question is, are there any problems with leaving it set up like that?
The fittings are chrome or nickel plated by the look of em-just the usual fittings you have on your air lines.
Gas is the argon mix for migging steel, so 8-10 litres per minute flow rate.

the gas is inert, so that won't react with anything. as long as the pressure is less than the rating for the line/fittings etc it will be fine

Probably ok to use in the situation described but a definite no no in an industrial situation.
I worked for most of my life in a steelworks where we had piped Oxygen, Nitrogen, Argon & compressed air. The compressed air was filtered of oil & water so it could be used for line mask breathing apparatus via quick connect schrader fittings. All went well until some clown fitted a schrader valve to a nitrogen line (to allow a quick connection for vessel purging). Then the inevitable happened when a contractor mistook the illegal Nitrogen connection for compressed air. Fortunately the contractor just trial fitted his BA mask felt breathless & sensibly dropped it. Of course, nobody ever owned up to the unauthorised fitting of the schrader fitting on the Nitrogen line. So be warned.
