UPVC sliding sash windows.

I will be replacing the two front windows at some point soon (1900s end terrace house) and quite fancy putting modern sash windows in as they look period correct and are not as hidious looking as most upvc type windows. I have been looking for custormer testirmonials, feedback good or bad, pros, con etc to see if they still let in drafts, become stiff or difficult to open after a while in use, but can't really find anything. So i was wondering if anyone here has them fitted or any experience with them good or bad.
For those young enough to not know what a sash window is or those of you wondering what i'm rambling on about the type/style of window in the video below which is just an illustration of the type i'd like to fit.

I put one in recently Mrs G wanted one so that's what she got.

The cost can vary wildly even at trade, think the much dearer ones can have slightly better profiles and be slightly better finished, mine was a cheaper option.

It looks like they nearly all use the same fittings, and on mine the holes in the pull up handles were smaller than the screws used, which meant they stripped and pulled loose.

Those magnetic child locks a cool, better than the ones on mine which need a key.

The opening limiters can be a bit tricky to use but work ok.

Mine is quite wide and the bottom rail is bowed down slightly possibly due to the glass spacers being put too near the centre, not too noticeable and life's too short etc.

Mine is only a few months old and seems to work ok, but due to brush seals has more resistance to sliding than the old wooden ones, no leaks so far.

The trickle vent regs (the formula being based on hinged sashes) clearly weren't written with this type of window in mind, which means I have four trickle vents across the top which looks cr*p! Especially stupid because when the top sash is down a tiny bit is already a trickle vent, and has been for centuries!

i wouldnt go back to the sash type windows for a few reasons unless your enforced to install them

there fine as window but are difficult to seal even in wood and the same said with plastic

I have one fitted in my bathroom as a trial before replacing our rear windows.

They look OK from the outside, but lots of plastic on show on the inside. My windows fit behind the brick, so if you get the measurements right, a lot of the wide plastic is hidden from the outside.

I ordered mine with run through horns rather than stick on and in cream so they don't look quite so obliviously Upvc.

My house is fitted with them. Easy enough to fit, not draughty at all. Even can be opened in over for cleaning. My kid sister has them too no issues. I went for the cheapest smooth white. Textured and coloured adds a fair bit to the price.

We had 9 made of hardwood and double glazed. Used springs instead of sash weights I beleive. These were to match the Victorian sashes in the old part of the house that my dad had rebuilt (eight of them with one original left). The new ones were very good and seal fine... the ones dad built seal well for something with no seals..
