Amps/Current (heat) is wirespeed with mig welding. If you want more amps you must increase the wirespeed, less wirespeed, less amps.
In some cases it is advisable to reduce parameters slightly when welding out of position, but its impossible to say by how much because its all dependant on the specific application.
Can you give us anymore info on what your application is??
ive not come accross this problem before could it have been the angle you held the torch causing the mig wire to be trapped is your liner clean try blowing it out with compressed air (wire removed obviously) i dont think its to do with being upside down more to do with your machine
