Oh - I've just got this! Sorry![]()
I'm thinking of doing mine too, it's a Chester Centurion lathe with a basic gearbox. I've got some gearbox oil for 2 stroke motorcycle gearboxes, will this be ok?
Not sure if it's ok with yellow metals or if I've even got yellow metals in my gearbox!
Cheers for any advice.
Looks like a bit of sloshing some diesel around may be a good idea once the goop is out. Then I'll flush the diesel again with some of the new oil.
Cheers Matt. It looks like it needs a decent slosh and it will hopefully dilute any of the cruddy thick oil left in there.A kerosene/paraffin or diesel wash is a good idea. It'll loosen/soften any gunge in there. They're about the best non detrimental cleaner/degreaser you'll find. I use a fair bit of kerosene, (heating oil), cleaning up my stuff.![]()
