Update: Final finish

After outgassing and wet blasting we have lightly blasted the runners with glass beads after porting but before the final polishing stages. The outgassing and wet blasting has certainly improved the end result no end and less media contamination which I would call a good result!!

Just from the polishing of the ports on the above what kind of gains do you see in performance?

@Fazerruss I can show some things but certain things I can't. A lot use hones on runners but not me! I more than polish the runners, a long days work goes into them. Yes a lot if gains to be had, of course depending on application. Done right try always do well. I port the plenum too and bore out the throttlebody as well

This interests me probaprobably more than most as I plan to have a go myself. I will be making my own throttle bodies from scratch to run a 2 L black top and I'm eager to know what will be the best sizes and inlet length to go for. I'll also be making my own inlet manifold and exhaust system.
At some point I will be pulling the head off and polishing the ports but first of all I need to get the engine to run. It's a brand new crate motor and I have a megasquirt kit to run it.

2l black top? The only black top that us familiar to me is the 20v 4age. I've got a tvis 4age intake manifold in the shop to port

It's a Ford zetec black top (black plastic cam cover). Really common choice for lotus 7 style kit car builds
