UNF fuel fittings (banjos etc) - looking for retailer.

Following on from the [is it / isnt it] diesel bug thread, im wanting to fit one of these to my land rover -

Single Fuel Filter Sediment Bowl Assembly Water Separator 1/2" UNF 5836B120 | eBay

Bowl Height: 51mm. Part Number: 82096.

The unit is cheap enough, but the fittings dont come with it, and even a pair of 1/2" x 20 TPI UNF blanking plugs are seeming to cost almost as much as the whole sedimneter (?)

Previously ive bought this kind of stuff from "SSL diesel parts" but their website looks abandoned, and they no longer answer their phone.

Does anyone know where i could buy the following -

a pair of 1/2" x 20 TPI UNF banjo bolts
a pair of banjos
a pair of 1/2" x 20 TPI UNF blanking plugs
...and a selection of small sized (i cant remember what size right now!) brass compression fittings / olives / brass inserts for making up couplers etc on nylon fuel line (same sort of stuff as air line)

Id like to get it all from the same place if possible, but i cant find another place like SSL diesel parts : (

I watched a guy who built a rig for his boat in far flung places test a Racor 500 but adding some water to his diesel and it cleaned it completely

I would worry about the plastic. I run b100 and it has a reputation for eating a wide range of synthetic stuff, hence specifically using the nylon fuel lines.

...although at the price some people want for the fittings, it would almost be worth buying it just for them! : )

The Racor ones are listed as being suitable for Biofuel, apparently the Racor parts fit these "Facor" units and the you can buy the Racor bowl separately

I genuine Racor unit is about £250 and they are commonly used for fuel polishing

Yeah, its no good for me though, as, unless i butcher the OEM pipes (that i dont want to do, as theyre about the least decaying thing on a landrover) i still need fittings to couple to anything.

Its my lift pump filter thats causing me bother, so i want to fit somthing prior to that.

In an ideal world, id chop off the tail from an old lift pump, and use a compression fitting on the other side of it to couple to some new fuel line without having to chop about the threadded fitting on the end of the OEM fuel pipe.
Id then extend it, using nylon pipe, to my "new" filter / sedimenter / whatever and then back to the lift pump.

The 101 is all done with clear nylon pipes and brass fittings. Tank >> delphi sedimenter >> lift pump >> filter >> IP
I, basically, want this the same, or there about. Rubber fuel line would be easy, but it will just fall apart. Ive tried it before.

I wont deny, i have been considering just raiding the sedimenter off the 101 until ive run a few tanks through the defender. Its not like ive driven the 101 in, umm... some shameful amount of time.

I dont really want the filter under negative pressure, and i want the sedimeter to protect the lift pump (hence wanting the separate)

Would it not be just as easy to pull the tank and clean it?

300tdi Discoverys had a sedimenter mounted at the rear inner side of the chassis, may be another option

What would be the simplest would be if i could just use the 110lpm pump that i have, that has a 10" filter strapped to the side of it, to pump the tank contents out, round, through the filter, and back in again, for, probably, all of 10 mins, and it would all be clean....

...but the pump is leaking, and, try as i might, i cant find the brand new seals that i have for it. Somwhere.


Im fearful about dropping the tank, as ive had a look at the fittings on the sender unit, and im not wholly confident that its all going to go back together again.

The sedimenter should be a good option, if it were not for the lack of fittings, and my desire to couple, in a non destructive way, to the OEM fuel line.

Those plastic hard lines are fine while they are fine but I understand why you wouldn't to disturb them I would imagine the tank straps will be rusty too. I've seen a few Youtubers in the USA that have kits to make their own plastic lines. Suprised it's not more common here as many cars have them.

It was dead easy on the 101 - i just used brass compression fittings, and got the correct sized inserts to the hoses to stop them crushing. As all the hoses were clear, it was childs play to spot any air ingress also. I thought it would be the same now, but the prior supplier has vanished : (

agri line in Bromsgove will have em.....they even have made up pipes.....for tractors.....tho.....hell of an on0line catalogue.....
something may fit.....pretty sure they have the lengths of the pipe as well.....
Plus if u cant find what ya want phone em.....

they got me outta trouble on some weird French built Massey's.....thy are happy to work from a photo.....
plus, those tht man the phones know what they are talking about....

I wouldn't get too precious about not cutting or replacing the fuel lines, there is nothing of them. There is a tool here for pressing the barbs into the pvc/nylon lines if you need it.
