Just wondering when would I use a multipass weld and how many passes would you use and why?
I get it if you were doing a butt joint you would come in with a root pass then the other layers to fill in the cavity till it’s flat.
What about T joint? Let’s say I use a 2mm electrode on some thicker material (10mm mild steel) would I multi pass and how many passes would I do?
I’m guessing if I ran higher amps with a thicker electrode (4mm-5mm) I would be able to do it in one pass.
I have always struggled on understanding this and I haven’t found anywhere that explains it exactly
