Hi - for the last 18 months I have been looking for an Umm Alter. The few that have turned up have sold before I found out.
Has anyone on here actually owned one and if yes what was it like? Just interested on what you thought.
For those that dont know, the are a Portuguese built 4x4 from a French design using Peugeot 505 mechanicals and parts bin for the rest.

, steering to low geared to suit me
basic & rugged in soft going it would eat a LR.a hose would clean inside & out
Off the road at present as want to do some jobs to bodywork. Chassis is massive. Bodywork is 2mm thick steel ! Only problem, especially with mine, is where panels join there was no seam sealer so despite thickness of metal the seams have rusted. Easy repairs though. I'm thinking of getting a late, but very rusty, Alter as a parts donor for the disc braked front axle, power steering, 5 speed gearbox and 2.5 turbo engine.
