So , my partner wanted a raised vegetable plot,I thought sleepers are costly,I’ve run out of soil,old tyres are free and means my sort of recycling,I thought 2 tyres high to get enough soil and drainage capacity,then easy on the back,plus the kids had a lot of fun.

lay em down and cut most of the sidewalls out.......that way u get a bigger growing area.......
ask me how I know.....

Give them a good scrub with Jayes fluid.

As, said, cut the side walls off.

Had a decent layer of rubble at the bottom for drainage.

If you want Strawberries, cut holes in the tread, and poke them through.

Disc cutter.
But it makes a lot of smoke and smells.

Slowest.
Hand saw.
But slow.

For holes.
Hole saw.

Jig saw will cut easy enough with a sharp wood blade in.

Was planning to try with a diamond stone disc.drilled some holes at the farm to try to drain them struggled with a flat bit ,wires everywhere.

Yes, plus to remove any residue of the tyre soap.

There great for growing spuds in my local allotment looks like a scrap yard with all the tyres

They do break down a bit with UV and weather. Not sure if newer tyres are better but any outside for a period leave black smut on hands and clothes. Not a major problem so long as you wear old stuff when planting/harvesting. Maybe pressure washing annually would help.

As a side note, I came across 3 stacked (smallish) rear tractor tyres in a woods recently. Figured they'd been dumped initially but inside was a single board across the middle tyre and holes cut through all the lower edge sidewalls, so they didn't hold water. Looked quite deliberate. As they were also near some kind of nesting box, wondered if it was some kind of wildlife thing - not a clue what would want to use it though and evidently, nothing had.

A multitool with a knife blade cuts sidewalls out nicely. I have destroyed a fair few sidewalls with one of these, they seem to work best pushing forward. the trick is finding the sidewall sweet spot.

Haha, if that's the case, I wouldn't want to interrupt the chap while he was on the throne - he must be 18' tall!

Done a few landscapes with old wheels and tyres if you have the time and some paint you can make magic

I wouldn't use tyres to grow veg for myself (be ok for the mother in law though)..isn't there a risk of chemicals leeching? For flowers they are fine of course.

My allotment site is having them removed at the moment I think.

Maybe that needs investigation.
My nephew works high up in the Australian government, before that in U.K. industry,as a water scientist,he’s always wary of reusing plastic drinks containers for the degradation and leeching effect.

We have a few in the MIS allotment.
We worked round the issue by sealing the inner edges with Bathroom tile paint. Where the edges were insides, they got sealed with Bathroom silicon.

Last year, due to members. Only flowers ended up being planted.
