I'd like to have two 16A sockets in my garage, one at either end for convenience. I don't expect to be using both simultaneously. Is there any reason why a single 16A breaker shouldn't be used to protect both sockets, other than that if I ever tried to pull more than 16A in total by using both sockets I would obviously trip the breaker? The breaker would be protecting only these sockets - there is a separate breaker for the 13A sockets.

nothing wrong with that as you all ready know if the total load exceeded the breaker then it will trip. its quite normal when BS4343 sockets are used for flexible loads for multi sockets to be off same circuit protective device
