tv in the car

you guys might know this. is it legal to have a small tv screen fitted on your car dashboard, i was thinking of this when i was in a traffic jam today, would be nice to catch up on a bit of news, instead of staring at the car in front wishing it would move 2ft more

how about satnavs i find they ar offputing when on the move, but then it would be worst if you tryed reading a o s map while driving

fair point. i have mine set so that above 40mph it just goes to a blue screen showing the next turn etc.

there great specialy in the dark on b roads and your in a hurry and dont know the roads. it makes driving safer as u know which way and how tight the bends are

Satnav is a driver aid so very different to watching telly!

You could always listen to the radio......

The multifunction screens normally only allow "TV mode" when the handbrake is on.

Later (Vogue) Range Rovers have a tv option for the front passenger while the driver sees a control/satnav screen for the driver at the same time.

My car has digital TV built in, though tbh you can't watch it when driving as the signal isn't all that good, I have it playing out to the rear head rests but the driver can only see the TV when the handbrake is on

If the driver can't see it then its fine to have one in the front, this is the same with any moving image with the exception of sat nav. However it will not be long now till they start banning tablets in the front as they have been the cause of some accidents "apparently"

I had a tv/dvd in my doblo van and its meant to be wired so it only works when handbrake is up.

I also added a rear view camera just to show off.

The tv signal was rubbish so that never got used either, sadly it broke so now im left looking at a hole in the dash

It isnt illegal as it is an option on the old Z4 roadster, but it only works in tv mode when the handbrake is on

With most of those TV screens in the dash you have a wire that you wire up to the handbrake, it can only be watched then when the handbrake is up.

Anyone that even thinks about wanting a TV in a car should have their driving licence revoked.

A car is for going from one point to another, people these days find that hard enough, to master
