I stand corrected This diagram does show the correct way to connect the pot, i.e. all three legs. It should be 1kOhm and linear, as has already been said.

Yes it's not as complex as these modern VfDs with the readout etc but it does this perfectly. Hats of to @Shox Dr you've put together a cracking little setup here. I wouldn't like to now the cost of you went out to buy this kind of kit brand new.

Newton Teslsa did all the work. The invertor was £125 when new, and they said the motor and gearbox would be over £600 [istr]

I think I just overheated the board when I soldered to it. Went to maplin got another one for 99p.

Yeah I can easily see that motor and gearbox being mental money. It's practically silent in operation!

Right electronics wise I'm pretty much there.

Now got foot switch wired into the common on the cw/ccw switch for start/stop. Seemed the simplest method.
Project box is too small really. I might dispense with that and wire all the bits up inside the housing for the turntable.
