Turbo 150 no power to wire feeder

I have turbo 150 thing. Came to use it today and not wire feed. Press the trigger and there is no movement on the relay or motor drive.

Took the top off the relay and if you press the top the wire drive runs and the welder welds.

I have checked the switch on the torch and this is working fine so there is something amiss on the PCB.

If i do this transformer mod will this sort the problem out as there appears to be no voltage going to the coil of the relay ??

the relay looks fine just lack of power going to it.Pursume that square black thing on the board is the power supply for the relay ?

Be very careful when you take the cover off the relay, the contacts have mains voltages on them & will give you a nasty belt at best if you touch them.
The transformer Mod will not help you as this only affects the wire feed motor and not the relay. The relay is key in that it switches the mains power to everything except the torch trigger & fan.
Check the connections betwen the PCB and the torch, re-check the torch trigger operation - how did you test it before? Do you have & can you use a volt meter?
Yes, the square black thing is a small transformer that feeds via a little round black bridge rectifier to the torch trigger then to the relay coil. The torch trigger then switches the 12V DC from this small transformer to activate the relay that switches the mains to the welding transformer & as the wire feed motor supply comes from the welding output, it switches this to the speed control circuit on the PCB.

The transformer mod seen on other pages replaces the motor feed from being taken from the fluctuating welding transformer output to it's own dedicated transformer & rectifier so that the voltage to the motor does not change as you weld. But this still needs the relay to be operating.

Are you sure there's no voltage across the relay points? It could just be that one side is burnt out. If you haven't already I'd get a multimeter out and make sure there's no power to the relay. If there is then it's just one side of the relay is kaput; if there isn't then you've got bigger probs.

Just looking at some clarke schematics.
If yours is the same as the ones I looked at.
It looks like the little transformer on the board is what runs the relay.
You need to have the voltage across the trigger switch, that the relay is rated for.
If not you will need to replace the transformer on the board, or the relay coil may be open.

I have used a continuity meter to check the switch in the gun and this is fine. There is not continuity across the input coil of the transformer so there is no voltage coming out of it to feed the relay coil. Does anyone have any specs on the transformer on the pcb so i could find a replacement and mount it externally off the board if i cannot find one to fit

the one im my ancient SIP 130 is a 240V primary & 12V secondary.
As it is only used to power the relay the output current would be minimal.
See if the one in yours has any markings, or if the relay is marked then use it's values to choose the transformer.

If you can post the numbers off of it, the specs. for the transformer can be looked up.
You may have to use a small off board transformer.

All fixed now thanks. Unsoldered the old one off the board and took a couple of wires off the board to the input of a replacement transformer and another 2 from the 12volt side back onto the board.

Used a doorbell 12volt transformer and have fixed it onto the inside of the unit.
