Tungsten info

Hi all,
If anyone is looking for some info on tungstens etc you download a 14page pdf leaflet on tungsten related stuff at www.diamondground.com

Looks like it could be useful but havent read it in depth yet.

apparently there is a bit of an issue over thorium and its use in electrodes (the normal DC type), the issue being that the thorium isnt good for your health and can be a cancer causing agent. Not suprising really as thorium is decaded uranium (if i remember my elements correctly), but now worries thorium will eventually deca into lead. There are som relativly new tungsten rods out at contain no thorium and are supposedly safer

As far as i remember darren thorium is one of the radioactive family.

(i just checked and Thorium is a slightly radioactive element,also an alternative fuel source to uranium)

Might have to make myself a nuclear reactor powered by thoirated TIG electrodes, would think a couple of million of them might be enough to power, a small light bulb lol

Id stick 2 wires in a lemon or a spud,probably have more success!

Yes, thoirated tungstens are radioctive, but only give off alpha rays. Virtually harmless as long as you dont eat them!!

yeah dont eat em, and watch it when u grind em they are carsonagenic. use cerium the grey tip. these are suppose to be completly safe and no different from thorium when welding
