tube notcher and hole saws

I fancy buying one of these.

can they be bought cheaper , I only want to cut 1.5mm cycle tubing and not lots' of it.

they look ok the more teeth the better as it says the standard starret and other makes are quite coarse ive been using them, on expamet dry lined walls and they snatch snapping the pilot drills

The notcher looks ok..same as one i use, there seem to be a few different firms selling the same notcher but with a different name and colour paint.

The bushes which the shaft runs through wear out eventually...i replaced mine with needle roller bearings but needed a bit of machining to do it.

Hi Paul-n,

Being a skin flint and having worked for a number of companies that could'nt / would'nt invest in kit I have spent many years making tube hand railings and roll over hoops on kits cars. All we had was a 4 1/2" angle grinder or the saw.

If you're only notching square cuts then the saw is fine. Just set the saw to 45 deg and nib a bit off each side of the end of the tube. However if the cut is angled then you can only use the saw to give you one notch, the other will have to be done with the grinder.
