Tube expanding tools

I've been asked to fabricate a few aluminium exhaust pipes for trials bikes one of the connections looks like its been expanded, its 24mm outside diameter anyone recommend me something that will expand the tube by the looks of it it only needs to go out 1-1.5mm

I had to "up" a short piece of tube to weld onto a silencer last week, steel tube, but I have access to a press, so stuck a suitably sized socket, with a shoulder, in and pressed away. Did the job dead easy. If you can get a straight push on it, before the tube is bent to shape, that is the easiest way. If not, one of those tube expanders may be the way to go.

Was going to say just grab a cheap pipe expander off the bay. Had a look for a link and they all seem to start around 1 1/8” which isn’t helpful.

AC and plumbing ones seem to be a bit smaller. You probably get away with that in Alu also.

Could always make something I suppose. Like an expanding mandrel type thing.

I bought a set off fleabay, think they are made by Neilsen, cheap, not fantastic quality but they did the job, and there is quite a selection of them.

Every time I use an ebay expander it fails to expand the exhaust pipe and I end up doing something else.

why dont you form a seperate strip into a tube round a bar then weld it to the pipe ?
boiler tube expanders would do it easily

They are not really for expanding tube, they are more for correcting a misshaped exhaust socket after its been butchered when removed. Should expand ali ok.

yep , the bad old days when they had those nasty clamps round them ,, that broke , buckled or just wouldnt come off ,,,

To tell the truth I don't know I'm waiting on the bike co.ing to mine to finish it now I'm going about it a different way now
